Syntagma: Athens

Syntagma, or Syntagma Square (aka Constitution Square) is the hub of the city center. A lively place day or night and host to most civic gatherings, it offers easy access via bus, tram, or metro to the Acropolis, the museums on Vassilis Sofias Avenue, Kolonaki, the Parliament, the National Gardens, Plaka and countless shops and eateries. Shopping along pedestrian Ermou street is "the thing" on Tuesday and Thursday nights, when the shops are open until 9pm. Street musicians and food vendors stand on the sidelines while couples and groups of friends socialize in the middle of the road.
