Palio Faliro is the seaside suburb nearest to the city centre and the right place for a swim at the beach or a stroll among the luxurious yachts of the Flisvos Marina. Permanently moored at the marina is an interesting sight: The awe-inspiring battle ship Averof that took part in the Balkan Wars in 1912-1913 fighting for the liberation of Greece. The interior of this legendary ship has been transformed into a museum with memorabilia from conflicts of the early 20th century.
