Parnitha Olympic Mountain Bike Venue

Description:

  • Parnitha is the tallest mountain in Athens, and was elevated to the status of a national park in 1961. It is situated to the north of Athens, and is not very far from the city centre. Parnitha, with its abundance of forests, caves and gorges is an ideal place to hike and camp. It is also interesting to note that this mountain was the venue of the mountain bike competition during the Olympic Games in 2004. If you're interested in visiting the mountain, it is advisable to contact a mountain club. The Aharnes Alpine Club is one of the best in Athens and the numbers are listed below.
