- KC Pit BBQ is a family owned business with the owners originating from Kansas City, MO. a husband & wife team who lived in Atlanta for several years before deciding to open a BBQ restaurant. The question was, "do we open a new restaurant in Kansas City or Atlanta?" Well, as everyone knows, there are BBQ restaurants on every corner in Kansas City. So...the decision to bring the concept to Atlanta was born! The main Chef who has 26 years BBQ experience moved from Kansas City as well. We gathered up five other Kansas City crew members, found an awesome location in Sandy Springs, GA and opened the doors in March of 2003!
