• Many consider swimming more than a popular diversion in Atlanta, as summer's extreme heat can make it seem like a necessity. The city maintains 19 municipal pools that are open to the public between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and are accessible to residents and non-residents alike for a small fee. Some locations also offer seasonal membership cards. Major facilities include those at Chastain Park, Grant Park and Piedmont Park.
