The Best of NileGuide
- Auckland offers a lot for families in terms of accommodation. You can choose via hotel amenities, location to interesting attractions, or centrality. In terms of budget accommodation, you can't go far wrong with either of the Auckland YHAs. They are located at the top of Queen Street only about a block from each other, so if one is full or unsuitable it's not far to go to check out the other one. The one on Turner street is the larger one which allows lots of space for families to spread out in th kitchen, lounge, or other common areas. If you are keen to visit the Auckland Zoo and Motat, you might want to consider locating yourself out in the nearest neighbourhood. Quality Inn west End is a stone's throw away from these attractions as well as a number of large parks inluding Grey Lynn Park with its flying fox. You can easily get buses from here to the city centre. If you don't mind being further out, you can go all natural at Lone Kauri Lodge in Kare Kare. Some families enjoy the comfort of the holiday parks located on the fringes of the city, especially those who have hired campervans or vans. Try the Avondale Motor Park or the Takapuna Holiday Park, the latter of which is located right on the beach. Also on the North Shore is the friendly Peace and Plenty Inn which is located near the Devonport playground and child-friendly beach. You will only need to take a ferry to get to the CBD from here.
