  • The hotel situation near Auckland International Airport is much better than you may remember if you have been here before. There is a lot more variety and new hotels are being built as we speak. There are also a few attractions in the area now as well, so if you are stuck out here with the kids you can take them for some mini-golf or to the butterfly farm. But think carefully as to whether or not you really need to stay at the airport. With taxis, the Super Shuttle and the Airbus, it is quite easy to get into and out of town. As a rule of thumb, if you are going to have a few spare hours, it might be nicer to stay in town so you can walk around and check out the waterfront, or even fit in a quick bungy jump. If you have an early flight and you don't want to get up at the crack of dawn, fair enough. Check out this list for something that suits your budget and comfort level. Although most on this list are right at the airport, some are in Manukau City, which is also very close. In Manukau City, there is a big shopping centre with a cinema and also Rainbow's End, an amusement park. So, if you want to stretch your legs or relax for a few hours, staying in Manukau could be an option for you. Most hotels have an airport shuttle and many of them are free, and you can also park your car. Check the listings or websites to be sure.
