The Best of NileGuide
- Auckland has its fair share of regular old mall/ high street-type shops but they may be worth a look as there is often New Zealand specific stock such a merino goods. But if you are looking for unique souvenirs, head to Pauanesia. Most of the items are made or designed locally to have the real Kiwi nostalgia feel. whie you are up there, check out the rest of High Street (not to be confused with Queen street, which is the actual high/ main street). The area has become very cool and trendy with many boutiques, second hand bookshops, and cafe for when you are in need of refreshment. Karangahape Road ("K' Road") is also a great place to look for unique New Zealand items. Try Buana Satu (One World) or Iko Iko. For duty free, there is the beautiful Customs House which homes DFS Galleria. They have some clothing items, wool fleece rugs (traditional in baby prams in New Zealand), honey and other confections, perfumes and alcohol.
