- European settlement was established here in 1840.& it is considered to be one of Auckland oldest suburbs & is the oldest suburb on the North Shore. Many homes in the area are protected as heritage homes under local body laws thus protecting the character of the area. Devonport also has a village type feel with it's shops & cafe's all within 5 minutes walk from the Devonport Ferry Terminal which links this North Shore Heritage Landmark to Auckland City & downtown.
