- Just 25 km south of Auckland is a beautiful Botanical Gardens that has a display of just not New Zealand plants and trees but they also have sections focussing on other parts of the world. Walk around beautiful ponds and enjoy a lunch at the cafe. Visit the gardens on your way out to Auckland going south, you are driving past them, so easy to find from the motorway.
