NileGuide Expert tip:

The link bus serves Parnell from the City and surrounding areas for free. It's well marked on bus stops and the locals all know about it so don't be afraid to ask.

Description:

Parnell, New Zealand's oldest suburb features some beautiful parks, iconic architecture and several restaurants. Few trips here are complete without a stroll up the main drag, the aptly named Parnell Road, which features many unique characters shops, cafés and bars. You might even bump into former President Clinton who is known to frequent the place on his visits. While there is a great deal to see, you should be sure to spend some time walking through the Parnell Rose Garden featuring nearly 5,000 bushes from all over the world that are carefully tended. The best time to hit the Gardens are in the growing season from October to April. The smell will truly astound you. When you have made your way through the roses, you can continue down the hill to the Parnell Baths for a swim in the salt water, a truly refreshing experience on a hot summer day. You can get to Parnell through private car, taxi, bus (Link buses are free from the city) and even train.
