There are so many things to do in Austin that you can't fit them all into one trip. How, then, can you make sure you see the best that Austin has to offer? A great place to start would be at the Hamilton Pool Preserve. Hamilton Pool Preserve is a nature lover's paradise with swimming, hiking and bird-watching. It's one of Austin's premier postcard locations surrounded by breathtaking natural wonder. Your next stop should be South Congress Avenue. Known for its funky style, South Congress Avenue draws Austinites and tourists alike with its shopping and eating opportunities. Shopping on SoCo Avenue is a must-do for tourists and friends visiting from out of town. The restaurants along SoCo are among the best and there's no better place to find locally made merchandise.
To learn more about the history of Austin, and the state of Texas, visit the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. With a grand facade that includes a 35-foot-tall bronze star, the museum is hard to miss. The three-story museum, open since 2001, turns the varied history of the state into imaginative interactive exhibits for the enjoyment of all ages. Meet the state's first occupants on the first floor, hear Stephen F. Austin announce the Texas Revolution on the second, and visit the third level for an understanding of how opportunity has played a part in the making of the Lone Star State. There are so many things to do in Austin that one visit is never enough.
