Description:
- For authentic El Salvadorian on the East Side, El Zunzal has it covered. Fried plantains, both sweet and savory, occupy a large place on the menu, along with El Salvadorian banana leaf-wrapped tamales and succulent meats and beans. Pupusas - thick masa cakes filled with cheese, pork or loroco, an edible El Salvadorian flower - are freshly grilled to order and served with a fresh cabbage salad. Desserts like banana fritters, moist cakes and rich flan are a sweet finish to lunch or dinner. Mexican dishes are available as well. A selection of El Salvadorian and Mexican beers helps wash it all down. - Christine Whalen
