Description:
- Southern-style cooking is often thought of as down-home, but at this restaurant, home is a plantation. Relaxing over brunch on the veranda, one almost expects to see Scarlett O'Hara floating by in a hoop skirt. The brunch buffet is always full to groaning with everything from boiled shrimp to a standing rib roast, carved to order. The dinner menu may be traditional, but all the entrees are reliably tasty. The breads are fabulous and the desserts are sinfully rich. Enjoy sipping on a mint julep while watching the peacocks make their way across the lawn.

Had a wonderful lunch at this place. Atmosphere was divine and really enjoyed our lunch. Lunch for the six of us ran a little under 200 that included gratuity.

This was a gift from my daughter to eat here. It is on beautiful grounds. The food however is bland at best.

If you have hours, aren't that hungry and aren't vegetarian it may be okay, otherwise don't bother.

Directions given when called the restaurant were wrong. Service took forever though the waiter was very nice and polite. Salad I got was a few slices of tomato, an egg and some cheese...

Message from Green Pastures
The genteel culture of the Old South is preserved at this elegant dining room serving nouveau continental cuisine. Occupying the circa-1894 childhood home of humorist John Henry Faulk, Green Pastures retains the charm of an earlier era. The subdued interior is elegant and old-fashioned, with carved fireplaces, antique furniture and long, sweeping drapes at the tall windows. Large live oaks, shrubs and flowers dominate the grounds, which are home to a family of peacocks. While still a draw for lunch and dinner, the restaurant serves as a popular site for outdoor weddings and banquets.
