- Mandola's is a family owned Italian-American market that has everything gastronomically Italian. The aisles are stocked with specialty ingredients, from balsamic vinegars and virgin olive oils to anchovies and housemade pastas and mozzarella cheese (made daily). While the bakery at Mandola's is great for breads, cannoli and biscotti, the excellent open-kitchen in-house restaurant is highly underrated. Mandola's brings together and odd mix of all ages, and given its proximity to the University of Austin, it's not strange to find an old lady giving cooking tips to a freshman. Chef, author (Ciao Sicily Cookbook) and owner Damian Mandola wouldn't have it any other way.
