Description:

• For winter sports fans who don't care to race downhill or battle lift lines, Autrans is located about 30-45 minutes from Grenoble. This cross-country destination is recognized for its 130 kilometres of cross country trails, variety of terrain, and its authentic small village.
  
  Skiers can practice classic or skating styles at Autrans and the gear rental shops offer both types of skis for decent prices. Full gear hire--shoes, skis, and poles--plus a day of skiing runs around 15€.
  
  It is also possible to book ski lessons with one of the qualified monitors of the French Ski School (ESF) for around 30€. Many of them speak English, so if this is your first time on cross country skis, an hour of lessons will make the experience much more enjoyable.
  
  For car-less visitors, the blue and yellow Transisère buses operate a line that runs from Grenoble to Autrans with a bus change in nearby Villard de Lans. A round trip ticket costs 8.60€.
