Museum Negeri Propinsi Bali (Bali Provincial State Museum)

Description:

  • This museum, originally built in 1910 by the Dutch, who wanted to preserve cultural artifacts in the face of growing exportation, has since been rebuilt after an earthquake in 1917. Several buildings highlight different architectural styles from around the island. View a number of prehistoric pieces in the main building as well as traditional artifacts. In other buildings you will come across examples of dance costumes, religious artifacts, traditional calendars, various textiles and common objects found at all levels of Balinese society. The opening hours change frequently, so it is best to phone ahead. Admission: IDR10,000
