Pura Bukit Kebon

Description:

  • This serene, little temple honors a child born to a princess of the fifth generation of the Karangasem dynasty. His father was the god of Gunung Agung. When the child grew up, he asked that a house be built on the Kebon hill for him and his mother. A large flat stone found here is said to be the foundation of this house. On the premises, a most unusually shaped kepuh tree--a large, shaded tree which looks like a baobab with its gnarly branches--makes a perfect spot for meditation. Admission: By donation.
