Pura Jagatnatha

Description:

  • Balinese-Hinduism recognizes many different gods. This unique temple is dedicated to only one supreme god, Sanghyang Widi. The shrine, which sits on top of the cosmic turtle and two serpents, comprises white coral. Walls are decorated with various carvings and scenes from traditional stories. Pura Jagatnatha is in frequent use and often closed to the public. Two major festivals held here each month celebrate the full and new moons. During the ceremonies, you get to watch frequent wayung kulit (shadow puppets) shows as well. Admission: By donation.
