Pura Sada

Description:

  • One of the most beautiful red-brick temples in Bali, Pura Sada Temple dates back to the 18th century. Smaller shrines and glittering grass surround a large tower or candi in the inner courtyard. What distinguishes this temple from others are the 54 small stone seats in the inner courtyard. These are said to be the patih or servants of a king of Majapahit in East Java who carried his ashes to the sea. The candi symbolizes the king's cremation tower. Every Kuningan Day, people from all over Mengwi come here to worship. Look for the sign for Pura Sada after you have gone through the village of Kapal.
