Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village

  • User Review:

    • it is one of the indigenous village of Bali that is located in the regency of Karangasem, East Bali. It is surrounded by mountain and the village. It is very well known for its unique and fabulous hand weaving which is called Geringsing/ Double Ikat weaving. The villagers are very strict in holding up their custom and ancient tradition. They carry out so many ritual and ceremony as a part of their ritual activities and the most famous one is "Mekare-kare" or "Perang Pandan". This is a ceremonial fight or war using thorny pandanous leaves as the weapon. This festival usually takes place in relation to the celebration of "Sasih Kelima" or the fifth Balinese month. Many other uniqueness of custom and culture can be found here that make Tenganan worth to visit.
