• If you want to see a puppet show but do not want to search one out at a temple festival, head on over to Ubud to see the Wayang Calon Arang. This 60-minute show tells the story of the witch, Rangda, and how she spread black magic throughout the land. A priest's son in the form of the barong, a four-legged shaggy beast, finally neutralizes her evil deeds. The puppets are intricately cut out of buffalo hide and their shadows are projected onto a screen. Just one man does all the voices and manipulations. The show is held twice every week.
