After checking in at Hard Rock Hotel in the middle of bustling Kuta, head out to nearby Made's Warung for dinner. Made's Warung is a popular local restaurant serving a wide variety of cuisine, from Indonesian food to Western and even Japanese. The main attraction however, are still the local Indonesian food on offer here – most definitely value for money.

    Description:

    The Hard Rock Hotel in Bali is Asia's first Hard Rock Hotel, located smack in the heart of Bali's busiest district - Kuta. The hotel's lobby doubles as a bar, a live rock venue and even a rock museum, showcasing various memorabilia from rock stars across the ages. The Hard Rock Hotel does not have access to its own private beach, but is within meters away from the sandy beach of Kuta. It's location is perfect for those looking to party, as the Kuta area is filled with bars and night-clubs, as well as cheap drinks and restaurants. Rooms start at approximately USD200 per night.

    Description:

    Made's Warung is one of the most popular local restaurant in Bali. The main branch is located at Kuta, and has grown from a traditional roadside warung into a cosmopolitan restaurant. Even right now they are undergoing renovation and expansion into the space next to it. The decoration of the restaurant is very ethnic and traditional, with Balinese carving and ornaments adorning the walls. The open air setting only adds to the laid-back ambiance, and it is a great place for a boisterous social gathering. The original menu is Indonesian, but recent addition has seen it expand into Western and even Japanese. Try out the popular favorites of Nasi Campur, Nasi Pepes Ikan or Nasi Goreng.

Ryoshi serves some of the best value for money Japanese cuisines in Bali, and their popularity have seen up to 4 different branches opening up all over the island. Dip into their excellent Japanese cuisine for lunch, and follow it up with a dinner treat at Rumours, a Italian Steakhouse located in Seminyak.

    Description:

    Ryoshi is one of the longest-established restaurant in Seminyak, and it's success has spawned other branch of the same Ryoshi restaurant. Currently, there are four Ryoshi restaurants on the island, serving authentic Japanese food and sake at very reasonable prices. The main branch is a two-storey rustic building located at Jl Raya Seminyak, and you would do well to call ahead for reservations. Dishes include sashimi and sushi sets, as well as various soba and udon, donburi rice dishes, teriyaki and tempura dishes. Expect to spend approximately USD25 per person.

    This bistro-style restaurant and bar serves good wholesome food at very affordable prices. The place is fun, with a jovial atmosphere and laid-down vibe, a perfect place to hang out and enjoy the good food, followed by a glass or two of beer or wine. Located in the Seminyak area, the extensive menu offers a good selection of meats and cuts, as well as various pizzas and pastas. The steak are excellent, juicy imported Australian cuts cooked to your preferred taste served with potatoes and vegetables. Also worth trying is their lobster spaghetti, a generous portion of pasta al dente topped with delicious lobster meat. Expect to spend approximately USD25 per person.

Golden Lotus serves dim sum or other promotional items daily, so be sure to check out the current promo of the day. Bumbu Bali boasts some of the best authentic Balinese cuisines, while Sarong is a fine dining restaurant serving a unique twist on traditional local cuisines.

    Golden Lotus Chinese Restaurant is the signature restaurant at Bali Dynasty Resort and has won several awards as the best Chinese Restaurant in Bali. The decor is a typical Chinese dining room characterized by high ceilings, well spaced round tables and black wooden finishing. The menu features Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine, with authentic specialties such as the Golden Lotus Peking Duck, as well as other favorites - Shanghai Sesame Chicken, Fried Pork Ribs and Pan Fried Prawn Szechuan Style.     Bumbu Bali Restaurant, located in Nusa Dua area, was created by the former executive chef of Grand Hyatt Bali. The decor itself is distinctly Balinese, with a series of open pavilions built around a courtyard. The menu features a host of award winning authentic Balinese cuisines, prepared in a traditional way just like how they are in Balinese homes or in traditional ceremonies. Worth trying out is the Balinese Rijsttafel, comprising of more than twenty different dishes in small portions. The Grilled Seafood and Slow-roasted Chickens and Ducks in Banana Leaves are popular favorites. Expect to spend approximately USD25 per person.

    Sarong is comprised of two open pavilions - one is a lounge with a large bar, an ornamental pool table and a private dining room; the other is the main dining area, filled with shades of gold and quirky vintage decor. The menu features cuisines of Southeast Asia with dishes from China, Thailand, Malaysia and even India, with a unique twist from the maverick chef-entrepreneur behind the establishment, Will Meyrick. Try out the unique Pad Thai, tossed with tofu, gailan pickled radish and garlic chive flowers, or the Zafferani Paneer Tikka, grilled cottage cheese, served kebab-style with North Indian chutney. Expect to spend approximately USD60 per person.

After exhausting Kuta and Seminyak area, head towards Ubud to continue our culinary adventure. Bebek Bengil, or Dirty Duck Diners, serve authentic Balinese crispy duck, a must try.

The name is taken from its popular dish, Balinese famed Crispy Duck, as well as other duck specialties including the Smoked Whole Duck. Another big hit is the restaurant's Babi Guling, Bali's popular delicacy of slow-cooked spit roasted suckling pig. On top of that the restaurant also features a variety of Indonesian cuisines. Expect to spend approximately USD25 per person.

Day Note:

Ibu Oka is a humble street-side stall serving babi guling (Balinese roasted pork). However, they are famed around the island and their popularity has seen them become a major tourist destination, with travelers from all over the world paying a visit to try their famed dish. Naughty Nuri's is also a popular restaurant, serving a mean martini and what many would proclaim to be the best ribs on the island. A bold proclamation, but one that yours truly fully agree.

    Description:

    This pretty country-shack of a restaurant, located on a non-descript road, is famous amongst tourists and citizens alike. When here, you cannot miss out on the famous Babi Guling-spiced tender roast pork served on a banana leaf-even the local cabbies swear by it! Forage under the meat and you will discover a bed of vegetable sambal, made of grated coconut, chilli and fat, blended in steamed rice. The whole dish is topped with chewy, crispy pork grits, giving patrons plenty of time to down the delicacy with a pint of beer. So popular is this joint, the food gets sold out by 7p! Come early and sample the local fast food at rock bottom prices!

    Description:

    Naughty Nuri's Warung and Grill is located in Ubud area, to the north of bustling Kuta and Seminyak. The restaurant is homey with an Irish pub vibe, and serves what many proclaimed the best BBQ Pork Ribs in all of Bali. The menu is an eclectic mish-mash of various Indonesian and International dishes, but the other show-stopper here is the famed Martini, which celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain once claim were the best outside of New York City. A smaller venue down the road called Nacho Mama's is actually part of Nuri's, so if the original is packed head on down where you can order the same ribs and martinis.
