There are a couple downtown: Early works Children's Museum ; Huntsville Depot & Museum. There is also an old Hardware store as well that could be interesting to find neat tools ect.... There is also a place called Sci-Quest that has lots of interactive experiements set up that they can manipulate and be a part of. Sci-Quest also has a very large indoor playhouse with about 10 different play areas. Enjoy and have fun!!

Hands-on museums are a great experience for 5 year olds and toddlers. Port Discovery and the Maryland Science Center are excellent choices.

I used to take my three kids all the time to the museums (still do with resistance). One little visited place is the Arboretum next to the US capitol) really interesting. It will keep them engages, of course is free. A second best is the Air & Space museum too much stuff to see. Even the gift shop has very cool goodies reasonable priced.
