Long Life Hotel (Shou Xiang Da Jiu Dian)

Description:

  • Opened in February 2007, this four-star is one of the best bargains in China. Luxurious twin rooms are priced at ¥108 ($14/£7) per night including Guangxi-style breakfast that consists of rice porridge, picked vegetables, a boiled egg, and a glass of hot milk. Standard rooms are ¥158 ($20/£9.75) per night but are located on the front side of the hotel and are therefore disturbed by the noisy music and dancing that takes place in the main square every evening. Best of all, price increases during national holidays are minimal. When I was there for the May Day celebrations, rooms increased by only ¥20 ($2.60/£1.30) as opposed to tripling or quadrupling as they do in Guilin and Yangshuo.
