Whiskey Creek is a residential community in Banff that is just a few blocks outside of downtown. It doesn't have very many attractions. It's only draw is that it is close to downtown. There are a few hotels in or nearby Whiskey Creek, and many of them are really nice.
The Fox, Caribou, and Ptarmigan hotels are all part of the Banff Lodging Company's list of properties. For the most part, these hotels are downtown, but a few of them, such as the Caribou, are closer to Whiskey Creek. Also, Hidden Ridge Resort is part of the same company, but it is famous for being "in town but out of town". It is just a few blocks away from Whiskey Creek.
The Spruce Grove Inn is in the heart of Whiskey Creek. A quick stroll from the hotel could take you down each and every street in this part of Banff. It's about a 15-20 minute walk into downtown from the Spruce Grove.
Tunnel Mountain Resort is ever farther from downtown. It is about as far from Whiskey Creek as Whiskey Creek is from downtown, ie. about a 15 minute walk. The Resort is a perfect place to travel with families. You don't have to worry about the traffic of Banff Avenue, but you can still enjoy the townsite. The Douglas Fir is another good option for traveling with children, as it has one of Banff's only waterslides. It is also on Tunnel Mountain Road.
