  • Bangkok has a reputation of being one of the top backpacker destinations in the world. The legendary Khao San Road seems to be the equivalent of Mecca for the budget conscious crowd. However, the cheap lodging goes way beyond that tiny area of town. Here's a list of 10 of the Best Hostels in Bangkok leaving Khao San behind. Hostels offer the cheapest beds in dorm style rooms with shared bathrooms, but also very affordable private rooms with private baths. Lub d has a stellar reputation and 5 different styles of rooms in two locations. You'd think Baan Dinso was luxury digs by the way fans speak of it and some of the lovely photographs. Suk11 puts the traveler right in the heart of another nightlife sweetspot, but just a short walk from the Skytrain. Want to get off the beaten track? Cross the river and check out Sivalai Place. And yet you can't go wrong booking a place in something a bit more hip and happening such as the Ekamai area where you will find the appropriately named Wanderlust. Other hostels such as Sukhumvit Soi 1 and Na Na Chart keep you close to the city's main drag. (And by that we mean street. Ahem.)
