Once you travel a lot you find a lot of the places you stay start to look all the same. You can wake up and forget where exactly you are. The consistency of this of course has its appeal in terms of the comforts, but a lot of travelers want to be wowed and see something different. In this case, your best option is a boutique hotel in Bangkok. You aren't going to have the same bland carpeting, forgetable artwork, and the usual cookie cutter furniture and arrangements. If you want to do Bangkok in style, check out these top ten Bangkok boutique hotels and see if there is something to your liking.
Situated along the banks of the Chao Phraya River and a stone's throw from Wat Pho's Reclining Buddha, Arun Residence is one of our favorites. Lovely rooms, lovely view, lovely stay - with a sunset cocktail in the rooftop bar and a look over the water toward Wat Arun. Fans of Chinatown will want to check in at Shanghai Mansion. If you want to stay along the main street of Bangkok, consider one of the many Sukhumvit Area boutique hotels such as Davis or Baan Sukhumvit Inn. You can still have the convenience of that street but step off a bit for a little less action at places such as Tenface Bangkok, Dream, and Citichic Boutique. While these are not typically pricey (except Dream maybe) they are also not catering to the backpackers. Probably your best bet in the economical category is the colorfully designed Baan Waree Rooms.
