Top 10:

Bangkok Shopping

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Bangkok is a shopper's Mecca. Travelers come to Thailand to hunt bargains and leave with huge bags of things on the return flight. The fancy shopping complexes rival any you will see in the rest of Asia, representing international brands from clothing and accessories to luxury cars and electronics. In places such as Siam Paragon, The Emporium or even Central World, you'll see Ferrari showrooms or Louis Vitton.

But the other end of the spectrum is the bargain ware, and yes, the not-quite-so-legal copies. It's a jungle out there and some of the markets resemble that literally. The Chatuchak Weekend Market as well as the new Siam Paradise Night Bazaar pull together a variety of cheap clothing, crafts, souvenirs and so much more in a labyrinth of open-air booths. Sampeng puts it all in a bustling Chinatown lane.

If you'd prefer some air conditioning, head for MBK for 7 floors of goodies. Software, games, music, shoes, phones, cameras, clothing -- it's all there. Pantip Plaza is the place for electronics. Places such as the sprawling Siam Square or Amarin Plaza offer a little of everything at a sort of middle-of-the-road level of price and quality. Whatever you are shopping for, these are the Top Ten Shopping Destinations in Bangkok.
