Chatuchak

The district shares its name with Bangkok's popular weekend market, only it is more likely to hear it referred to as JJ Market. Chatuchak Park is situated between Phahonyothin and Kamphaeng Phet VI roads and both the BTS Skytrain and MTS subway have stops here.

Chatuchak Weekend Market is next to the large green space of the same name, and is a hothouse labyrinth of thousands of covered stalls selling just about everything imaginable. Travelers can find souvenirs as well as good deals on clothes. Food stalls are part of the complex as well. Across Kamphaeng Phet VI to the east of Chatuchak Park is Or Tor Kor (OTK) Market where mostly locals shop for high quality fruits and vegetables and Thai products such as coffee and prepared foods.

To the west the Northeastern and Northern Bus Terminals can be found, and Central Plaza to the north is another shopping complex but not on the same scale as those in Pathumwan and Sukhumvit. Though there are reasonable hotels in the area – Sofitel Grand Centara is one – most travelers will prefer to be a little closer to other attractions and Chatuchak will serve as a weekend destination.
