Benjakiti Park

Description:

• The park is located at the edge of the huge Thailand Tobacco Monopoly, just off Sukhumvit Road, and provides an area of green and a place for relaxation for people in the Ratchadapisek and Rama IV areas. There is a huge lake in the center with small boats for hire, a cycle route with bikes for hire and a walking/running route around the lake. There are some exercise stations and several small play areas for children, and some shaded seating areas. The park was created to honor Queen Sirikit on her 60th birthday and is also next to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. The park sometimes hosts special outdoor exhibitions and firework displays. The area often smells lightly of tobacco, but is popular, especially in the evenings. -AH
