• The heat gets a little crazy in Bangkok and this subterranean market offers a bit of respite. Located in the Kamphaeng Pet MRT station, this collection of cheap boutique shops and clothing outlets is akin to what you might find at Chatuchak Weekend Market, however, on a much, much smaller scale. What makes this notable is that it is an underground and air-conditioned connection between Chatuchak Market and Or Tor Gor Market (which is right upstairs and out Exit 3) or Talad Rot Fai, a night market of antiques (which is out Exit 1 and a short walk down the road along Thanon Kamphaeng Pet). Along with the usual collection of women's clothing (mostly) and shoes, you can also find a handful of food outlets (a sort of modern food court), beauty shops, and an information booth where you can stop and collect brochures, maps and other tourist information. (There are also a few places to sit -- more important and notable than you might think in a hot city that seems to frown on providing places to rest your heels!)
