Leng Nei Yee (Wat Mangkorn Kamalawat) - Bangkok
  • Type: Religious Sights
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

If you go to Chinatown, this is one temple not to miss.

  • Description:

    • Wat Mangkorn Kamalawat, still commonly known by its former name Wat Leng Nei Yee, is a Mahayana Buddhist temple built in 1871 by Phraya Chotikaratsetthi. The building looks Chinese with animals and plant decoration on the roof tiles and trim and the Buddha image itself has the Chinese style.
58 gods are represented inside and worshipers come to ask for blessings. Taoist and Mahayana Buddhist imagery mix here. On Chinese holidays, especially the New Year, this place is packed and the air dense with burning incense. Open daily from 6am-6pm.
