Thao Suranari Monument

Description:

  • Built in 1933, Thao Suranari Monument was built in the memory of the Thai Heroine 'Khunying Mo' who is also popularly known as Yo Mo. This grand monument is built over her ashes and has a 1.85 metres high statue holding a sword and facing the city of Bangkok. Every year people offer prayers to this lady known for her valor who was honored the title of Thao Suranari by King Rama III on the success in the battle against Chao Anuwong. The Thao Suranaree Fair is celebrated every year to commemorate her victory and most residents of the city and nearby villagers flock here to seek her blessings.
