try to find something in samut prakan area - it's in fact a part of bangkok, but much cheaper to rent a house as inside bkk. for example - i rented a house - wooden thai style house - about 150 sqm - inside a big tropical garden for just 4000 baht. or along sinakarin road - the transportation is great and easy in bkk. you have a lot of buses, btm, skytrain and other transportation possibilities.

Before I would attempt to answer your question I hope you will allow me to ask you a question or a few? Would you be willing to commute to your place of business? Is living in the Bangkok city important to you? What would you working hours be? Personally I would elect to price apartments outside of the big city. I would get away from the tourist big population to find a place to stay in. Who will be watching your two year old child while you are out and about? I suggest you try this "www.teakdoor.com" very good ex-pat website in Thailand. Try also asking your questions there too. If you just want to talk I can be found in "Skype" under the "theguyrocks" I.D. name. Another question what is your timetable/timeline/arrival time to Thailand? It is hard to just answer supply you with a good accurate answer on such cryptic/little information to work with. ":^} But, I do not mind trying to help you. I wish you the best of good results and the very best of good luck in your search.

Simple townhouses (not furnished) are available for about 5000 Baht/month on the Thonburi side of Bkk (strategically located in the neighbourhood of skytrain stations). However the sanitary facilities (kitchen, bathrooms) would not be to say European standards. For furnished ones with good sanitary facilities you would need to spend about 12000 Baht/month.
