Try BANGKOK LOFT INN at 55 Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Road, BangyiRua, Thonburi. It's a bit away from the major sites, but very close to a BTS Sky Train station, from where you may reach all the sites you want to visit rather conveniently.
There are legions of cheap hotels and guesthouses in Bkk as Khun Teya rightly said.
A nice area to stay - in my opinion - is in BangLamPhu/Khao San Rd area with all sorts of accomodation. From here you are able to walk to the main sites, e.g. palace, temples, National Museum etc or take public boats or busbes to other sites. Another website to search in is www.agoda.com.

I suggest looking outside of the big/main city area of Bangkok. There are places twenty to thirty minutes out of the city that are lower in prices. There is the Subway & the Skytrain plus taxis and busses for travel. Hey try checking this "www.teakdoor.com forum website. This is where you can also pose your question. I really like both of these sites. One site I just mentioned is a very active forum. Try asking your question(s) there and see your results. Best of luck.

Hello.

Bangkok offers many cheap hotels, it depends on your plan or activities ect, also if you are young or old this can make a difference for you. If its night life you want one should stay in these areas, I stay at the Opera Hotel in soi samprasong 11 of Petchburi road as this is near the computer area , this is clean and good staff, around 800 baht per night, book in for 1 night and take alook around to find a place to your satisfaction.

regards Derek.
