I prefer the rooftop of the Banyan Tree Hotel in Bangkok,on Sathorn Road. It is called the Vertigo. The panoramic view of Bangkok from 61floor high during sunset and nigh time are equally amazing. The prize is not that....expensive.. as other rooftop places of luxury hotels in the area, and the food is not that...bad, indeed...

I agree with Jaques. There are quite a few operators of evening river cruises with dinner and entertainment on board. The whole trip up and down the Chao Praya river takes about two hours and gives you the chance to see some of the most famous Bangkok landmarks. Here's one example: http://www.thaicruise.com/ Enjoy!

Best Thai restaurant is "KRUA RAKHANG THONG" on the river (beautiful river view, great Thai food, very reasonable prices).
If you want to get there, take the ferry from Khao San Rd area/Banglamphu (or the Express River Boat from any other place) to the other side (Siriraj Hospital). From there walk 5 min. You have to cross a local market. If you get lost, ask some people, they will help, or call 081-646 5494 (English).
You will hve an unforgettable evening!
