The Bangor Symphony Orchestra (BSO) features a diverse offering of classical, pop and modern performances that have long won the praise and loyalty of Bangor region Mainers. Established in 1896, the BSO is one of the oldest community orchestras in the United States. The orchestra does a good job of combining instrumental perfection with music that appeals to generations of listeners. A typical season schedule may include a holiday concert with members of the University of Maine Oratorio Society to a tribute to Motown, as well as a sampling of Beethoven classics. Thanks to an anonymous donor's gift, this community orchestra now offers a program that contributes to the artistic development of young gifted musicians. Check out their schedule, chances are you'll find something of interest no matter what your musical taste.
