Barcelona is packed with bars and clubs. It's hard to turn a corner without stumbling upon a cool place to have a few copas in an inviting, fun and exciting atmosphere. Between the more mainstream bars and the slightly hidden, off the beaten path venues, Barcelona has an incredible variety of nightlife options.
Our number two pick is somewhere you wouldn't find, unless you were looking for it specifically. El Paraigua, disguised upstairs as the typical Spanish restaurant, hosts live music just a few steps down. Walk in, turn left and head down the stairs and you'll find yourself in a cocktail lounge, with plush couches, live music and elaborate cocktails. This is a great way to spend an evening in an enjoyable, unpretentious yet elegant atmosphere.
Walk into one of the side streets just off of Plaza Sant Jaume in the Gotico and you'll find Caj Chai. Our number five pick is not only a relaxing, soothing tea house, but it serves alcoholic tea beverages as well. This is an excellent place to read a book on a Sunday afternoon, or get the party started in the evening before dinner, by adding a bit of rum to your infusions.
Heading into the 'posh' side of the city, near Muntaner, you'll find our number seven pick, Cafe Noir. This minimalist, bar, club, and restaurant is where Barcelona's elite can be found any day of the week. This is an excellent space for events with a high quality sound system and three big rooms which can host up to 400 people.
