Barcelona is full of romantic bars. Tucked behind medieval courtyards and nestled in narrow alleyways, lie some of the quaintest, most charming and elegant places to have a romantic night out.
Our number two pick is some of the best live music, underground. Hidden behind Plaza Sant Jaume, in the old city, El Paraigua, showcases live jazz in a comfortable and trendy cocktail lounge. Perfect for dates or a just something a bit different than the norm, this is a great way to get away from the crowds and enjoy a bit of live music.
On the other side of the tracks, centered in the Born, Gimlet is a small wine and cocktail bar right off of the popular Paseo Del Born. There's not much seating room in this bar, but it's a great place for a few early or late evening cocktails in a dimly lit, elegant atmosphere.
Not exactly a bar, however an extremely romantic and different type of venue, our number eight pick is for those looking to relax. Caj Chai tea house is the perfect place to curl up and read a book on a rainy afternoon, either alone or with a loved one. The best thing about this place is that they also serve alcohol so if you feel like something soothing, yet want to get a start on the evening, add some rum to your tea and take it from there.
