Even though 'anything goes' in Barcelona when it comes to dressing up for bars and clubs, there are a some slightly more upscale places one can go dancing or grab a few drinks to get the night started.

Our number two pick is well known amongst the Catalan 'pijo' (posh) crowd. Bluntly put, Otto Zutz is one huge meat market. Packed with men and women dressed to the nines, this two story night club attracts a very specific crowd, yet is a fun place to spend the night and even the next morning, as the club stays open until 6am.

If you feel like partying on the beach, then our number five pick is a perfect blend of beach chic and trendy cocktails. Carpe Diem Lounge Club (CDLC) is fancy, yet unpretentious and ideal for some pre-evening cocktails or a night of dancing.

Right beside the CDLC and slightly more full on when it comes to dress and clientele, our number six pick is a great party scene. If you're looking for a fun night, with good looking people and energetic music, Shoko is your best bet.
