Barcelona is blessed with culinary options for all gustos and when it comes to finding a few niche, five star restaurants in Barcelona, you don't have to look too far. One of the best things about the city is that even if the restaurant serves five star quality food, you don't necessarily have to dress black tie optional. Anything goes in the city, so you can enjoy the taste of a five star meal without having to dress to the nines.
Our number one pick is perfectly situated in the old city and is one of the best dinner options, especially if you only have a few days to explore. This small, out of the way plaza in the Gothic Quarter provides a warm, local and very rustic setting for this elegantly charming restaurant. Pla is a small, two storey place with delicious, Asian, Mediterranean and Catalan dishes. The service is top notch.
Not on our top ten list, but worth mentioning briefly is, Re-Pla. A great option if you're looking for a cheaper version of Pla, with relatively the same menu. Our number seven pick, isn't very off the beaten path, however it deserves a mention simply because it was Picasso's former hang out.
Quatre Gats acts as both a relaxed place to grab a few tapas and some sandwiches, or as a more elegant, sit down meal option, in their restaurant at the back. It's definitely worth a visit even if not to eat but just to take a look inside at the modernist interior and eclectic art. Slightly up town, heading towards the more 'pijo' neighborhoods, is a meat lovers haven.
If you're into good Argentinean meat and have a palate for finer wine, then our number nine pick is for you. Patagonia, airs on the more expensive side, but it's one of the most reputable places for a good cut of steak and is also known for its extensive wine list. The restaurant slightly lacks in atmosphere, but the staff are attentive and the cut of beef superb!
