When it comes to dining in Barcelona there are few areas better to explore than near Plaza Catalunya and the Eixample neighborhoods. Central, trendy, classy and full of options, there are a large number of upscale as well as very affordable places to eat in these barrios. It's a stone's throw from the Old City and the downtown core and right on the edge of the more modern area of town, so after dinner you're perfectly situated to continue the night in either direction.
Our number one pick is about a five walk from plaza Catalunya and ideal during the summer. El Jardi is situated in a serene, very relaxing garden on the edge of the Raval. They serve incredible tapas and cava sangria on their few outdoor tables under the sun. It's less of a restaurant structure and more of a beach side chiringuito (beach hut), yet the food is high quality and amazing.
Head towards the Exiample and our number five pick is one of the best places for tapas in Barcelona. Paco Meralgo, is elegant, trendy and chic and not pretentious. They have a selection of high top tables near the large windows by the door which provides for a slight 'bar like' atmosphere.
Our number seven pick is a Barcelona staple. Foodies flock there during their visits for their delicious tapas at extremely affordable prices. Inopia is one of Barcelona's most popular and well known restaurants and it's definitely worth a visit.
