When it comes to things to do in Barcelona's ciutat vella (old city), there's an infinite number of options. Between the Gotico, Born, Raval, Ramblas and even down by the beach in Barceloneta, Barcelona's most historic, authentic and intimate areas, have plenty of things to keep one entertained.
One of the best things about Ciutat Vella is its windy alleyways and cobblestone streets that are so easy to lose your way in and that's why our number two pick for the best things to do in Barcelona's old city, is a walking tour with a touch of Picasso. If you don't know where you're going then a walking tour is a sure way to truly get the most out of the old city, while discovering places you most likely wouldn't have found on your own. This is a great options as well, since it incorporates the Picasso Museum, which even if you're not an art connoisseur, is definitely worth seeing.
Crossing over into La Ramblas, heading towards the Raval, our number five pick is a great place to spend a few hours, especially if you're into contemporary art and new exhibits. The MACBA hosts some trendy, new and very avant-garde displays and is also an interesting area to check out, as it's slightly 'seedier' than the Born and Gothic neighborhoods, yet has some eclectic and very delicious restaurants, cool shops and sports a very local vibe.
