One of the best things about Barcelona is that anything goes. Whether you're fine dining, casually eating or cruising for romance, you can pretty much wear anything to most bars and restaurants in the city. This usually provides for a warm and above all, very fun atmosphere in Barcelona's bars and restaurants. Even if you choose a slightly more upscale venue, it's never too stuffy not to be fun!
Situated on Via Laietana, heading into the Born, our number one pick is a Mexican Fiesta. La Rosa Negra is one of the best restaurants for a cheap and filling meal as well as a few shots of tequila and tasty cocktails. This small, rustic, two story restaurant is always packed and has a lively, exciting vibe almost every day of the week.
If it's summer (or spring), our number three pick is one of the most fun places to spend the afternoon. El Jardi, situated in the Raval is a chiringuito style restaurant, with tables outside and absolutely delicious tapas and cava sangria. When the sun's out on a Saturday afternoon this is the best place to be. They don't take reservations, so come early.
Across from the Raval on the other side of La Rambla in the Gothic Quarter, is the famous, La Fonda restaurant on c/Escudellers. There is always a line up outside this place and although it is very touristy, it's one of the best 'bang for your buck' restaurants in Barcelona. It's always packed which provides for a really fun and energetic ambiance!
