  • Barcelona's culinary scene is quickly become renowned for its diverse selection of international, as well as authentic local restaurants. No matter which neighborhood you're in there is a wide variety of relaxed, intimate, delicious places to grab a few tapas or enjoy a more elaborate sit down meal. And if you know where to look, Barcelona's got some excellent off the beaten path restaurants, as it's always nice to diverge a bit from the mainstream.

Our number one pick for Barcelona's off the beaten path restaurants is situated in the Raval and is ideal during the summer. El Jardi is more like a chiringuito (beach side hut) than a restaurant, but the food is unbelievable. Romantically set inside a garden, El Jardi has tables outside, either in the shade or under the sun. Their tapas are delicious and so is their cava sangria.

If you're a meat lover then our number four pick is for you. This Argentinean restaurant, located in the Born, knows how to make a good (and rare) steak. La Chacha is one of many Argentinean restaurants in Barcelona yet one of the few that features a genuine Argentine ambiance, with a full menu featuring everything from Argentinean Wines, to starters as well as main dishes. Try their 400 gram bife de chorizo, just make sure you haven't eaten anything else all day.

Head into the Barceloneta for one of the most off the beaten path meals you'll have in Barcelona. Our number eight pick, La Bombeta, features greasy Catalan tapas in a rustic, bar frequented by locals. If you're looking for a true Spanish experience in Barcelona, this is a great way to kick off the evening or the afternoon.
