Description:
Just off La Rambla, this hotel in the Art Nouveau style is a welcoming haven for the budget traveler. Constructed within the shell of a monastery that used to have a passageway connection with Sant Agustà church, the hotel was thoroughly modernized in the early 1990s. Its use of wicker furnishings gives it a colonial air, and its inner courtyard, lined with plants, is its most charming feature. In the typical modernista style of its era, the Peninsular has long hallways and high doorways and ceilings. The bedrooms are basic but clean, and the better ones have en-suite bathrooms with shower.
