Neighborhood Description

Ciutat Vella

Barcelona's most historic neighborhood, Ciutat Vella, (Old City) is comprised of several trendy, rustic and vibrant neighborhoods including the Gothic Quarter as well as the Born, Raval, Ribera and Barceloneta areas. Full of narrow cobblestone streets, windy  alleyways and niche courtyards, the Barrio Gotico, as locals call it, is the most historic neighborhood in Barcelona.

Within the city walls one can find Roman Ruins, the 'Call' (Jewish Quarter) and one of the most gorgeous Cathedrals in the city. Not to mention the variety of quaint shops, chocolate and churro (typical Catalan snack) restaurants, artisan locales, street art and boutique stores selling one of a kind items.

And to many, the greatest selling point of Ciutat Vella (the Gothic Quarter, Born and Raval in particular) is the thriving nightlife. It's one of the best areas in Barcelona to have a few copas of sangria on a terraza, before hitting the clubs.
