Gràcia
You can't get much more local than Gracia. What used to be a city unto itself, has today become one of Barcelona's hippest, funkiest and most authentic neighborhoods. The mix of Modernism and old school Catalan architecture permeate this area and provide for a true neighborhood feel.
Gracia is one of the best places in Barcelona if you're looking for quaint wine bars, sunny patios, and eclectic shopping. It's an intimate, fun and always happening neighborhood just above the Eixample district and near one of the city's poshest streets, Passeig De Gracia.
A few notable areas to explore in Gracia include: Verdi Street (Calle Verdi) where you can also find Verdi Cines; featuring a mix of independent, foreign and main stream films, as well as Plaza Del Sol and Plaza Rius Taulet.
