    Your day begins by driving to Montserrat, passing through the countryside surrounding Barcelona. Hiking through the natural park of Montserrat you can enjoy the tranquility of the wilderness, away from the crowds of Barcelona city. The hike is suitable for those with a moderate levels of fitness as there are sections of numerous rock stairs and some inclines.

    During your hike your guide will explain about the unique morphology of the mountain, the geography and historical facts of interest. You can also stop at the museum towards the top of the mountain, where the cog-railway from the basilica ends. Upon reaching the highest point on the mountain at St. Jerome 4,055 feet (1,236 meters), there is a beautiful uninterrupted 360 degree view of the park. Your effort will be rewarded with a spectacular view stretching from the coast to the Pyrenees.

    After a snack and drink break, you will continue the journey back down the mountain. There will be a short tour of the famous Montserrat Basilica, before returning to Barcelona. Your guide will try to time your visit to the basilica outside of the peak visiting hours for day trips from Barcelona.
